This is a chance to immerse yourself in rhythm – a musical vacation... • Open to all levels of playing experience... no previous experience required. • These special workshops feature new rhythms from around the world - many unique styles! • Instruments are provided including djembes, congas, bass drums, krin and xylophones. Take one - take many... You are welcome to mix and match workshops - take as many or as few as you would like. Many of the workshops feature instruments or rhythms not taught in the regular weekly classes. The workshops are open to all levels of playing experience. Instruments are provided for all workshops, including djembes, congas, krins, bass drums and xylophones. KRIN (LOG DRUMS)
Krin are slit drums made of of hollowed logs, played with sticks. They are dynamic and fun to play! New rhythms will be featured, with course notes.shakers Different sizes of krin produce different tones. Interlocking rhythmic patterns plus a soloist create rich and beautifully melodic rhythms. Instruments are provided and beginners are welcome to try out this amazing instrument! * Monday 10:30 am - Noon $29.99 BURUNDI BEAT The Burundi Beat from East Africa is performed on large wooden drums, originally played while being carried on one's head! (You can play them on the ground...) This form of unified playing from Burundi is very powerful, yet easy to learn. You will learn the basic beat and a series of breaks, along with stops and starts that go with the rhythm. * Monday 1:30 - 3:30 pm $39.99 DRUM IMPROV SKILLS How to look and sound good on your drum! Everyone wants to sound good on their drum - this special workshop will give you insider tips on how to play well in any situation.
