WESTERN CANADA TOUR - SPRING 2024
This spring I did a two-month tour of Western Canada. I had the good fortune to teach and perform in many communities that I hadn't visited previously, from Haida Gwaii to Fort Nelson to Valemont.
Traveling with more than 50 drums, I met thousands of people, spent many hours on the road and saw some fantastic scenery. Two of the communities that I taught at had just returned from major wildfire evacuations, and it was nice to be able to provide a fun musical activity for students that helped take their mind off of the recent events.
Highlights include: performing at the Whistler Children's Festival (41st edition), seeing the giant Balancing Rock on Haida Gwaii, hiking among the old growth trees at the Ancient Forest, and chatting with a diverse range of people from all walks of life. A big shout out to the teachers and staff who helped make this tour happen, and I hope to be able to visit you again for some more musical adventures.
